i (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, Wednesday. The measles epidemic in the eastern end ot the town is spreading, and tbe attendance of mfants at the East End school Je senocsly affected. An innovation has been made at East End scliool for singing lessons, a piano Aavmg being added to the school proAt a meetiag of the Übexa] and Labour i-etjtiauon last evening numioations were opened for the following offices for the ensxiiEg yea*:— President, two vdce-presi-flents, secretarj-, treasurer, and a eomiwttee of twelve. Toe election of officers place four weelis from last evening. Notice of moaon was given by Mr R. McMillan for the nest meeting. "That instead of a subsidised privately-owned mail service it -would be preferable for the State to build a line of mail steamers, which may be nsed as auxiliary cruisers in tin-? cf war, such vessels to be manned Bj naval reservists."
