LOAN AND MERCANTILE AGENCY REPORT. Horses: On Friday, at the .Durham Yards, we had a moderate yarding, with good competition for useful sorts. Heavy draughts sold at from £30 10/ to £42; medium do., £20 5/ to £36; light harness horses, £8 15/ to £19 10/; hacks, £6 10/ to £17; spirng cart, £8 10/; Courtland -waggon, £30. At Pukekohe on Wednesday there was a large muster for a winter sale. Dairy cows, of which there were IS9 yarded, cold at from £3 10/ to £8 12/6; do., heifers, £3 5/ to £5 15/; empty cows, £1 17/6 to £3 2/; grown steers, £4 17/6 to £5 15/; two to three-year-old do., £3 2/ to £5 10/; yearlings, £1 17/ to £2 18/; calves, 15/ to £1 8/. Beef was yarded in full quantities, 98 head being cold. Steers sold at from £6 10/ to £10 5/; cows, £4 5/ to £5 17/6. Cattle: At the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday, there was a full yarding of stock of all descriptions- Dairy cows sold at from £3 15/ to' £8 10/; empty cows, £1 15/ to £3 8/j calves, 16/ to £1 9/. Fat cattle were yarded in average quantities, and competition was irregular, oxen selling to 22/ per 1001b and cows' 17/ to 20/ per 100 lb. Steers sold at from £6 10/ to £10 17/6; cows, £4 5/ to £6 15/.
Sheep: At the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday sheep were yarded in average quantities, and sold at improved rates, wethers selling at from 18/9 to £1 7/6, ewes 16/6 to £1 5/, hoggets 10/6 to 17/.
Pigs: Porkers sold at from 18/9 to £1 6/; ■baconere, £1. 8/ to £2 15/; weaners, 6/ to 15/.
We submitted an extra large catalogue of hides, skins, and tallow, all lines being sold under good competition at late rates.
