TALK OF BLOODSHED.

APPEAL TO OVERSEA

LABOURITES,

(By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.)

(Received 8.12 a.m.)

CAPETOWN, July 14. Four thousand strikers on the Rand are determined to fight to a finish. They are sending cable messages to the labour bodies o f Australia, New Zealand and the United States of America for assistance.

LONDON, July 14. Mr. Outhwaite, leader of the Strikers, in a letter to the " Daily Chronicle," states that the miners a month ago applied to the British trade unions through Mr. Ramsay Mac Donald for financial assistance, with the alternative that the Labour party should compel the Imperial Government to withdraw the troops, but there was no response.

PRETORIA, July 14. The Transvaal Premier (Mr. Botha), in replying to a miners' deputation, declined to legislate in favour of arbitration this year. He advised the men to resume work.

The deputation then repudiated responsibility for any possible bloodshed in view of the Cabinet's attitude.
