NATIONAL DEFENCE LEAGUE.

The third miniature rifle shooting competition, promoted by the New Zealand National Defence League, has been concluded, with the appended results:—

Class A (18 years to 21 years): G. Matthews 30. C. Dennis 30.

Class B (16 years to 18 years): G. Pirritt 30, L. Levy 30, W. Bell 30, W. Byrne 30 Class C (14 years to 16 years): R. j Proude 29, B. Crawford 29, S. Weir 29.

- Class D (under 14 years): H. Elliott 29 R. Atkinson 29.

On the sho'oting-off of ties the following were the results:— "

Class A (18 years to 21 years): G. Matthews 29.

.Class B (16 years to IS years): W Bell 30, L. Levy 26.

Class C (14 years to 16 years): B. Crawford 27.

Cass D (under 14 years): First prize, E Atkinson, 24; second prize, H. Elliott, 29."

The new pointed bullet is proving a great success at Bisley. At present it is only used in match rifles.

Information has been received at Whangarei that the ketch Moonah, which was blown ashore at Whangarei last week, has not yet been refloated. Tackle has been erected to keep the vessel o nan even keel, and the crew are excavating under the outer bil<*e. When this is completed, the vessel will be eased over with the tackle into the artificial channel. It is hoped to float the Moonah at spring tide to-morrow.
