Operations in the Waihi Gladstone mine were resumed some time past, the wort in baud being. directed to extension of the crosscut- in an easterly direction; A good description of country is being penetrated. It js well mineralised, and interlaced with, snrall quarts stringers. MT. ZEEHA2J. Mr. W. E. Cayley-Alexander, M.1.M.M.E., has returned from a visit to the mine at Tararu. where during the last fortnight he has located some new reefs. The samples therefrom have been assayed by Mr. Pond, and the following is a copy of his report:— Assay: Zeehan No. 5 bullion: Value per ton, £4 9/9. No. 6 bullion : Value per ton, £35 14/. No. 7 bullion: Value per ton, £1 11/3. No. 8 bullion: Value per ton, £235 12/2.
