EPSOM BAPTIST CHURCH.
FOUNDATION STONE LAYING CEREMONY. Twelve months ago a Baptist Church was opented'at-Epsom, and so phenomenal has the growth of the cause been that the officials have been obliged, in order to meet the growing spiritual needs of that rapidly-grovfing suburban district, to erect a new and larger church. The building, a wooden structure, will be built on a prominent and valuable site on the Manukau load, and York Avenue. Connected with the present church is a flourishing. Sundayschool. Altogether the prospects for the future of the church and school are very bright, as there is no other church in that growing neighbourhood. This afternoon the foundation stones of the new church were laid by Dr. A. O. Knight, and Mr R. B. Shalders, senior elder of the Baptist Church. Rev. T. A. Williams, President of the Auckland Auxiliary Baptist Union of New Zealand, who, by the way, has accepted the call to the pastorate of the new church and begins duty next month, presided, while Revs. A. North, J. Clark, E. A. Kirwood, and J. B. Sneyd, all local ministers, took part.
