PRESBYTERIAN GENERAL ASSEMBLY.

DUNEDIN, Thursday.

At the Presbyterian General Assemoiy this evening the committee reported that the total attendance at the Thealogical College was 23, of whom three belong to other denominations. The Rev. A. Cameron, in moving the adoption of the report, said there were 70 men, all with few exceptions at work in New Zealand, who had been trained at the college. The report was adopted, and the donors of scholarships thanked.

The.Rev. Dr. Sidey, who has been 22 years clerk and treasurer of the Presbyterian General Assembly, was to-day presented with a portrait of himself iv oils, and a purse of gold, in recognition of his great services. The Rev. James McNerrow spoke in high terms of the work done for the Church by Dr. Sidey, who in replying asked the Monerator to hand the portrait to the Theol .gical Committee, to be placed among the records of the men who had left them.

Discussion on temperance committee's report was resumed, when ministers and elders gave testimony as to thp improved state of affairs in Invercargill and Oamaru as the result of the coming into operation of no-license in these districts. The opinion was expressed that if a poll were taken again, the majority for nolicense would be largely increased. The report was adopted. The statement of the treasurer state! that the income of the funds had been very satisfactory. The balances to credit of all funds except the Maori Girls' School and the Dayspring funds had increased, and, with these exceptions, the funds were still in credit The report was adopted.

To-night the prizes won in the recent contest will be presented in the Foresters' Hall, Newton.
