FIRES IN WOOL.
EXPERT CHEMIST'S THEORY.

GISBORNE, this day.
Messrs Common, Skelton, and Co., of Gisborne, have received the following communication on the suujeet of fires on wool ships from their London agents:—"We took the matter up with a well known chemist for the Royal Agricultural Society, Dr. V. H. Voleker, and submitted two samples of damaged wool, and one of undamaged. Both of the damaged lots had been treated with lime. Dr. Voleker says he believes the whole trouble is due to the treatment which wools undergo with the lime process, being turned out too quickly, and not thoroughly dry. 75 ""
