Lefevre. and Taylor left for home to-day. and their departure was a great disappointment for the others. Wheeler had to play to-day, though just convalescent. The second match. Australia versus New Zealand, was played at Albert Park to-day in fine weather. The turf and all the appointments were delightful. The New Zealanders say the green is the best they have played on in the Commonwealth McLaren's rink got two fives and a sis. The brilliancy of Gillies, the skipper, almost secured a win for the New Zealanders, but Wheeler's indisposition resulted in his failure by 24. This turned the tide against the visitors. A splendid recovery was made by Payne against AYaxmar.. He picked up 10 in two ends. He toot out Waiman's snot bowl with a beautifnl drive, scoring six. and followed this «p> et the next end with a similar shot for four. Sneddon fairly held his own against Cooper, but was beaten in the last two heads by eight points. Dal' led practically throughout from Moody and settled the srame on the 22nd end after the shot had been drawn against him. with a beautiful drive, which got five Roberts led throughout against his opponent.
