DEVONPORT COUNCIL.

The Devonport Borough Council met last evening. Present: Messrs E. W. Alison. M.H.R., In the chair, W. Handley, E. 3. Osborne, C. P. Murdoch, W. W. rimewell, R. Logan, jun., C. C. Dacre. E. 3. Ford, W. D. McLean, and J. B. Graoam. Water for Shipping.-—On the reeommenlation of the Streets Committee, It was •esolved: "That as the only shipping supplied with water at Devonport is the Devonport Steam Ferry Company, a company -chose Interests are identified with the lorough, the Council seas no reason why it should over to the Auckland Har--jour Board the control of supplying water :o the company at Devonport." Fire Brigade.—lt was resolved, on the notion of Mr Osborne, "That a Fire Brigade Committee be appointed, to whom mall be relegated the matters referred to by th« Council tor report." Messrs ?«ird..
