HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Hospital ana Charitable Aid Board was held in the Board room- yesterday. There; were-•;present! Mr John McLeod- (chairman), Messrs L. JV Bagnall, A. Sturges, W. H: Bloomfield, J. G. Rutherford, M. Casey, A. Bruce, G. Knight,_ C. Grey, and'the secretary (Mr H.-N. Garland). - ■ V The laid on the table the plans for: the. new -infectious diseases hospital to be erected-on the Hospital grounds, as approved of by the District Health Officer, Dr. Frengley, and moved.that, tenders for same be. called for, to be returnable'at 9 a.m. on the 23rd Inst. Ten applications were received for the position of architect for .the large additions.and alterations contemplated by the Board, and -on the motion of the chairman. the names were referred to: a sub-commit-' tee to reduce the number to three. Reports were received from Constable's Lipscombe and Waterman, alleging-incom-petence on the. part of the driver of one of the Board's, .ambulance,, which was used to convey a man suffering from gun-' shot wounds: from .'the railway to the-Hos-pital. The-chairman,' iv moving that the Charitable Aid i Committee investigate the matter and report, said it was the first , complaint of : the . kind received, and he was sruprised to get it. Howeyer, the matter .was serious, 'and there ' should be. I an investigation. • . 7'- The: Hospital Commitee reported .that .there were ,121 male and 57 female patients in the hospital.. There were .four..male and six female, infectious cases, ;and. -—ring t&& fortnight there had been six deaths. Dr. Inglis, hon. secretary to the Medical Committee .-of the honorary staff, wrote to the JJoard stating It had been decided by the committee' by lot. in accordance with, the by-laws that in 1907 Drs; Bull and Inglis shoud retire, and in 1908 Drs. Robertoh and Savage, andin 1909. Drs.-Frost and Gore Gillon.. Drs. Walsh and Aickia wrote . accepting re-appointment for another year,. and the .appointment: of .
