THAMES BUGB_ UNION.

The annual meeting of the Thames Rugby Union was held oh Saturday night, Mr C. Johnston occupying the chair. The balance sheet disclosed acredit.of £86 7/3, and the annual stated that the two rep. matches against Auckland, and those against the Goldfields' Union and Miranda teams, were won by the Thames - reps.. It was decided to adopt the district • scheme for-, the ensuing season, three divisions,, City, Suburbs, and - County being made. The election of officers resulted as'follows:. Patron, the Hon. Jas. FOOT RACE IN THE DOMAIN.

• A foot race of 50 yards was held in the Domain yesterday afternoon, - between Messrs P. Quinlan ; and P. P. Miles, a well known runner, for £50 a side.. Quinlan was allowed eight yards, Mr Austin Smith acting as starter. Miles was quickest to get going, and rapidly cut his opponent down, passing him with over ten yards to go.. Quinlan then slowed "down, and Miles /won with the greatest ease. ~ /•

CYCLING.

The first "annual smoke concert of the Auckland Cycling Club will be held in the Foresters' Hall, Karangahape-road. to-mor-row night. Mr: P. M. Hansen, president of the club,' will occupy the chair.

NORTHERN BOXING ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the executive of the above association took place "last evening,,'and; there was a full attendance ojt .members, i The business put,before the meeting was in connection with' the forthcoming carnival on the 12th April. The secretary reported that he had succeeded in arranging"! a contest -between J. Godfrey, champion featherweight of England, and J. Gosling, the New Zealand crack. The contest would be six rounds. Mr T. B. O'Connor reported that' the medals for the championships would be presented during the evening.' Mr Trudgeon asked for authority to complete arrangements with Professor Potter.- to utilise his splendidly appointed room "once a month to hold club evenings; and it was unanimously resolved to hold .mdhfhly club ! nights, and invite ail members to -be present. The manager reported that the programme for the approaching carnival was j now completed, and consisted -of several I excellent attractions,./including' -Messrs Blewden and Maloney, O'Griff and Gault, in addition to Godfrey and Gosling, which will furnish one of the best bouts yet seen here. Nothing further " had . yet' been "decided about the New "Zealand " championships. The Northern Association's nomination for council has been sent,to Mr-Atack,"; secretary, Christchnrch, : and the election will take place shortly. V _ .- ~ .
