WAIHI, Saturday. •Tlie local branch.'- of the Liberal and Labour Federation held another enjoyable social,-one of the series of monthly entertainments, in the. Miners'- Union HaU.on Friday evening, the building being -packed Excellent music was suppHed by Mr Christian and. party. Mr F. Tyson acted as M.C. The socials are organised by the ladies' committee of the branch. Mr Tracy Knight, .of Waiklno, gave an. enjoyable organ recital in the Presbyterian Church ,last evening, there being .a large attendance. At .the conclusion Mt Knight was ""enthusiastically, applauded.. Dming the evening the choir rendered, the Te Deum:'and - several' other anthems.'. Vocal Items were given by .Mesdames Donaldson 1 Holmes, and Misses. McKenzie, Newdick and- Farrell. '. Mr'V; Atkinson, of Auckland! contributed "The Star bt Bethlehem," and received an enthusiastic encore.
