WAIHI NEWS.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, Monday. The second annual reunion of the past and present students of the Waihi School of Mines was held in the Foresters' Hall on Saturday evening. Apologies were received for the absence of Messrs O. G. Adams, D. W. Allen, R. B. McDuff (Directors of Thames, Coromandel, and Karangahake schools respectively), and H. F. HaszarcL Tbe chair was occupied by Mr F. Stewart. The function was a great saeeess, the usual toasts being honoured in an enthusiastic manner, and the vocal items well received- Mr W. P. Johnston suggested the forming of a students' association. Messrs Stewart, J. Gilraour, Parker, and Wotherspoon also spoke in favour of forming an association. It was resolved that a committee consisting of Messrs J- Gilmour, Stewart, Morrison, VV. P. Johnson, Barber, Irwin, R. Carter. Daley, R. Haszard, Thoma.s, Gilmour, T. Johns, and YV. Wotherspoon be set up to inquh-e into the form the association should take. The reunion was brought to a close by all joining in the singing of "Anld Lang dyne." The anniversary services of the Church of Christ were hole! yesterday in the Miners' Union Hall, and were very largely attended. Both afternoon and evening Mr Aldridge (Auckland) delivered forcible addresses at both services. i
