SUFFERINGS AT SEA.

THIETy HOURS ON A CABIN TOP. Intelligence was received at Leith iv December from Captain Watt, of the Leith steamer Atholl. of his rescue in mid-Atlan-tic of the crew of the American schooner Islebopough. The crew, consisting of the captain and seven men, were lashed to the top of the cabin-house aft of the waterlogged schooner, and were with great difficulty rescued and taken to New York. Tbe Islebprough was a schooner of 72* tons register, belonging to New York. She left Savannah for New Bradford op November 9th, and ou the following Sunday a sudden hurricane struck the schooner, and every sail was blown away or torn into ribbons, and Captain Trhnm had to put his vessel before the gale. At 8 o'clock on the Sunday night a heavy sea tore the yawl boat off the stern, and two hours later the Isieborough sprang a leak forward. She bulled rapidly, and settled down by tbe head, but the lumber kept ber from foundering. It was bitterly cold, and the gale was accompanied by snow and sleet. The crew had no water with them on the deckhouse, and their food supply consisted of a few cans of preserved fruits. On the Man. day they took 20-minute watches, and with the top of the ship's boiler improvised a stove, hoping to attract a passing vessek Shortly after daybreak on the Tuesday a three-masted schooner passed within a halfmile of the wreck; but this vessel, whicsi had also suffered severely in tbe did not appear to notice them. Before another sunset the smoke of the Atholl was; sighted, and, her attention having been attracted by improvised signals, the nea were taken off the wreck.
