The council of tlie Whangafei Acclimatisation Society appointed Mr Ho I man curator of the trout hatchery in Whau Tallry, Whangarei. The year's .b.-itchiiig operation has been very successful, and | hundreds of being distributed among: settlers, 'who are constructing ponds to develop them, preparatory t6 turning them into streams throughout the district. There ' are , still -about 20,000 fry in. the*hatchery ponds,, and. many large fish,' including a ciirious double-headed specimen.
