An elderly man named Alexander Finnegan applied for maintenance orders against his sons Thomas, William and James, who agreed to pay 5/ each weekly upon the father promising to enter the Costley Home. The charge against Samuel C. H. Buck, that he' failed to maintain his wife, was struck out owing to complainant's nonappearance- Mr Reed, che defendant's solicitor, remarked thaf'Buck v. Buck" had been running through the books of the Court for fear or five years. A Sailor's Theft: John Teare Curphey, formerly a sailor on the scow Vesper, pleaded guilty to stealing articles, value . £0, from the vessel. William Spargo. . the captain, stated that after Curphey i was paid off two aneroid barometers, an , oilskin coat, a shawl, rug, and pair of i boots were missed. He identified the articles, which had been recovered by ! the police from various second-hand dealers. Detective _faddern, who gave evidence of arrest, said that the accused bolted when he saw witness and another detective in an hotel. Curphey was committed for sentence at the Supreme Court.
