THE MATAMATA ESTATE.
m A KEEN DEMAND. It was only three weeks that the Matamata Estate of some 66 square miles in area was thrown open for selection, but now that the ballot day is near it is found that, in spite of the recent .unfavourable weather for inspecting the land, 75 of the 117 farms are covered, by applications. These farms vary in size from about 30 to close upon 1000 acres each. Of the balance of the estate, the grazing run of about 3000 acres is covered by applications, in addi- : tion to 12 of, the 32 suburban, and 18 of . the 163 township sections. Since the ballot wa& closed sever*! additional applications ~ have been received at the Crown Lands Offaw at Anekland, and several groups of far-lers were still ' busily studying the plans to-day.
