PUKBKOHK. ; Au Important and well-attended meeting | of the ratepayers of Pukekohe West Road District was held on Saturday evening for the purpose of eonsdering the advisability of obtaining a loan of £9000 for the improvement of the chlffif roads of the district. The meeting was convened by circular from the road board, and the chair was occupied by Mr .!. Routly. chairman of the board. Many questions - were asked by the ratepayers, and .1 resolution proposed by Mr Pollock, seconded by Mr DaJton. "That the road board lie re--1 quested to take a poll on the borrowing . scheme," was carried by an overwhelming ' majority. Che -ftow of hands being 43 for the motion and 3 against. It was also decided, on the motJofj <*f Mr Dell, that if the loan be obtained th*t an engineer be Qb--1 talned to superintend the more importajit - part of the work. A vote of t__an__s' was . passed by acclamation to the chairman and members of the road board for their services in connection with the loan question.
