THE GOVERNOR. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, this day. The Governor, who arrived at Hastings last night, as the guest of Sir Wm. Russell, this morning visited the district school, and in the afternoon presented war-medals to contingenters. He also opened a bazaar in aid of the drill hall funds. The town is en fete in honour of the visit. A SERIOUS CHARGE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) KAIAPOL this day. A Maori named Hone Maaka Mokomoko is being tried in the Supreme Court on a charge of committing incest with his daughter, aged 17. There are three counts alleging different dates on which the offence is alleged to have been committed. The defending counsel applied to have each count tried separately, but the judge ruled against him, offering to reserve the point for the Court of Appeal.
