The Royal Oak return was a good one. being £ 1258 14/3 from 114 tons of ore. The detailed returns are as follows: —

GOLDEN SPARK. Satisfactory progress is being made with this mine, and the prospects have considerably improved during the last few days. HARBOUR VIEW. Sloping operations are iv progress on Simpson's leader at No. 4 level, where the ore coming to hand shows little gold. NEW UNA. Samples of stone from the reef formation cut in the New Una miue were on view to-day at Mr H. GilfiUan's office. The pieces are small, but carry broad seams of fine gold of somewhat pale colour. Concerning the discovery, the manager reports that he got good dish prospects from the rubble, as well as a few choice specimens, which were selected from the quartz broken out. A mineral seam was also passed through recently, which should junction with the quartz formation, as the leader is being developed on the north side of the drive It will take a few days yet before the manager can determine which reef it is he has intersected. On the Exchange to-day, buyers offefod 5Jd the New Una shares, but no selling price was quoted. ROYAL OAK.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)

COROMANDEL, this day. I understand that Mr H. H. Adams has now concluded the purchase of the Royal Oak mine from Mr H. C. Woolmer, attorney for the English owners. Mr Adams inspected the mine yesterday, and the employees were informed today that operations would be conducted ou" behalf of the. new owners. The terms of purchase provide for the English Company retaining large paid-up interest. It is intended to form a new company with a working capital of £5000. The mine, is now producing ore of good quality, and there is c"cry indication of a good future before the new company.
