OHINEMURI COUNCIL.

A special meeting of the above was held on Tuesday afternoon, when the following matters were dealt with: Tenders.—The following tenders were accepted:—Painting and repairing magazinekeeper's house, W. J. Towers, £20; widening and deepeniug drain at Netherton. J. A. Reid, £.7 0/; dog collars, K. Jones, 9d each. Incognito Claim.—The Council decided ou the request of Mr Dawson to spend £11 in making a track to this claim at __a-_toto to enable a trial crushing of 20 tons to be taken out. Karangahake Nightsoil Depot.—lt was decided to metal the branch road at an estimated cost of £70. Waihi-Taurang- Road.—lt was decided to call tenders for the completion of work ,on this road. Paeroa-Aroha Road. — The engineer recommended that a surfaceman be put on for a few weeks and that the metal lying alongside the road be spread."—Recommendation adopted. Street Lamps at Karangahake.—Mr Rabhidge, manager of the Ohiuemuri Light and Power Co.. wrote that his company were extending the gas mains to Karangahake, and were prepared to supply any number of street lamps.—The Council decided to ask for a quotation for different numbers of lamps. Borough Council Dispute. — The Waihi Borough Council wrote agreeing to the suggestion of the county that Dr. Giles be asked to arbitrate on the two points in dispute and the chairman stated that Dr. Giles had been written to asking his consent. The matters In dispute are, firstly, as to the liability of the borough to pay a share of Government grants expended by the county ou the niaiu roads: and secondly, as to whether the borough should pay for metal for the roads before it is spread on the road. Aid to Prospecting.—ll. Butler applied for assistance as he was prospecting for gold betweeu Paeroa and Waitekairri.— The request was granted, and it was decided to apply to the Mines Department for a subsidy.
