BANQUET TO COLONEL PITT.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NELSON, this day. The citizens' banquet to Colonel Pitt, in honour of his appointment as Attor-ney-General, was held in the Council Chambers last night. There was a representative attendance, and the Mayor presided. The gathering was non-poli-tical. The usual complimentary speeches were made, and the Government and the city were congratulated on the appointment of Colonel Pitt to the office. . In his reply Colonel Pitt reviewed the work of last session; but refrained from any controversial matter. He dealt at some length with local topics.
