WELLINGTON. Thursday,
At to-day's imH ing of the Anglican Synod a. resolution was carried that the General Sjmod be requested to amend the canon law providing lor the nomination of a bishop being .submitted fur confirmation to the standing committees of tlie several dioceses by making provision that the Synod of the diocese which made tbe nomination shall furnish each standing committee with full information as to the reasons which led them to make the nomination, and also to provide that the standing committees be given at least one
month for the consideration of the question The mover said his reason for bringing the resolution forward was to be found in what took place when the nomination of the Bishop of Auckland was submitted to the standing committee for confirmation. No opportunity was given for any communication -with Auckland, or for any inquiries to be made. They were simply told that the Auckland people had nominated a certain man, and that he had accepted, and that the committee should accept the position.
