Sir Frederick Lugard, British High Commissioner in Northern Nigeria, i*> sending an expedition under Colonel Borland to divert the trade from Kano to the Niger, and to enquire

into the (circumstances which led to Fadlallah, son of Rabah, being killed by the French at Bornu.

Fadlallah in June last year fled from French into British territory, and was there pursued and killed by a French expedition.
