The Grey Lynn Council met last even* ing. Present: Messrs R. T. \Varnoctt (Mayor), A. Donald, R. Hall, T. Booth, ■%: White, R. C. Foster, A. Parker, J. Far* rell, C. McMaster, and J. Rosser. . ;.
Cox's Creek Intake.—On the motion of the Mayor it was resolved that the petition re Cox's Creek intake be approval and forwarded to the Government. ■ v
Stables.—Messrs Kerr and Owsley wrote' asking for permit to erect additional stabling accommodation fronting Ponsonby Road.—A letter was received from "Mr G. Pltkeithley strongly objecting to the permit being granted. He mentioned that already the present stable, had depreciated his property £100, and that he had to place screens before his windows and doors to keep out flies.—A petition was received from ratepayers and residents !n McKelvie-street praying the Council not to grant permit.—The town clerk said the building was proposed to be erected alongside the present stables fronting Ponsonby Road.—Cr. Farrell pointed out that th« Council had not the power to refuse ttW permit.—Cr. Donald considered the stables were a nuisance to the whole neighborhood. There was a loft over the present stables, which did not give proper ventf* lation.—Cr. McMaster said the Counwl should do nothing until proper speejqr cations were submitted.—Cr. Farrell. explained that in order to remove any an* noyance the stable would front Ponsonti? Road and be 36 feet from the next property. The Council had no power to refuse the permit, provided the building f» in a sanitary condition.—Cr. Foster JB" jected to the matter being left with tM Streets Committe-e. He moved that tM matter be referred to a committee or tM whole Council.—This was seconded "bySa"' White.—The Mayor said the building theft at the present time was not satisfactory as far as ventilation was concerned.—The motion was adopted. Finance. — The Finance Committee reported that £100 debenture on water low had been taken up, leaving the balance £300. Accounts totalling £75 11/8 were ordered to be paid. The overdraft totalwa £583 17/6. -~jS Park.—Cr. Donald moved that the resolution of the Council, offering £4000 « the Estates Board for a park, be rescinded—This was seconded by Cr. Rosser an" agreed to. <''JM Cross-street,—Cr. Foster moved that,* 1-inch pipe for water supply be lwn Jj Cross-street, where 14 houses were-"' present depending upon a half-inch P'P 6"
