PAEROAj, Thursday. OHINEMURI AGRICULTURAL AND HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A committee meeting of the above Society was held yesterday evening, %vhen there was a good attendance, and several matters In connection with the forthcoming show on the 7th and Sth of February were arranged. The canvassers for trophies gave a most favourable report of their success in Auckland, and it is expected that the coming show will be a mucli greater success than either of the previous ones. The schedule is a most varied ono and every inducement is given to exhibitors, all exhibits beingadmitted free. KARANGAHAKB SCHOOL, OF MINES. Whilst on his way to Wilihi last Tuesday Mr McGowan, Minister of Mines, was shown over the newly-erected School of Mines at Karangahake. Mr Stiickpole, on behalf of the committee of management, asked the Minister to grant £100 towards the school to provide desks and ssats and do other necessary work, but Mr McGowan suid he had no power to make such a grant, and suggested that the people should collect a e'ertain sum. which the Government would subsidise.
