With Her Majesty duty was the first consideration, and peer juid peasant her unwearied cai*e. Before moving' the adjournment of the Council 1 desire to move the following motion: 'The Mayor and Councillors of the City °f Auckland desire to express t*he deep sorrow felt by all members of the community in the great loss which has befallen the nation byi the death of Her Most Gracious Majesty Queen Victoria, and to present the loyal and respectful sympathy and heartfelt condolence o£ the citizens of Auckland to their Majesties the King and Qxieen and the Boyal Family in their bereavement. That the foregoing resolution be recorded in Hie minutes of the Council, and that His Excellency the Governor be respectfully requested to forward the same to the Secretary of State.'" The motion wag seconded by Cr. Kidd, and carried unanimously, the adjournment being until Monday evenIng at the same hour. .
