THE TE AROHA FATALITY

(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.)

TE AROHA, this day.

An inquest was held yesterday, before Mr T. Forrest, coroner, into •the circumstamces surrounding the death of Frederick Dryland, killed on Saturday afternoon. The evidence showed that, deceased was driving a loaded dray over the big railway bridge, when the shafter became frightened by the tightening of the frightened and jumped, away with a start. The shaft struck the leader, which, also bolted. The driver endeavoured to stop them, but was dragged from his seat to the ground, the wheel passing over his abdomen, causing death within an hour. The jury returned a. verdict of accidental death, adding a rider that the Government should be asked to shift the gate on the western side of the railway bridge, and improve the approach thereto. . •
