General Knox's four columns, after a most exciting week's pursuit, have cornered De Wet between tlie Caledon, Orange River, and Basutoland, in the south-east of Orange 'River Colony. The '"Standard" and '-'Morning Post's** correspondents assert that his capture is hourly expected.
Johannesburg is completely surrounded with barbed wire with five exits, to prevent the conveyance of food and information to the Boers who are still fighting.

The British have taken this precaution to prevent their communicating with the enemy.
At Standerton the Boers stopped three trains and took 19 remounts before they were dispersed. Others raided Brakspruit and captured much stock belonging to Boers who had surrendered to the British.
General Coke's Brigade, operatingin the Drakensberg, captured 8000 sheep and many cattle.
