HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the. Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held yesterday afternoon, when there wei-e present Messrs A. Bruce (Chairman), J. Gordon, Y. Warren, Thos. Allen, A. P. Friend, G. J. Garland, J. Jamieson and J. Court,

Thanks.—On the motion of MiFriend it was decided to convey the thanks of the Boaord to the retiring members of the Board for their valuable services in the past.

Bedding.—The tender of the Tonson Garliek Co. being the lowest was accepted for the supply 01 bedding for the Hospital.

Gas Fittings.—The tender of Geo. Clarke, £15, for certain gas fittings for the Hospital wards was accepted. Committees.—The committees for the enstiing year were appointed as follows: Charitable Aid Committee. the whole Board, with two members to form a quorum; finance committee, Messrs Friend, Allen, Stichbury, Gordon, Court, Garland and the Chairman; fees committee, Messrs Jamieson, Warren, Gordon, Allen aud Garland; Costley Home committee, the Board as a whole, two members to form a quorum. Mr Bruce was- elected Chairman of the Charitable Aid Committee.

Finance. —The Secretary reported that the statement of accounts showed a debit of £1160 11/1; while £2500 was due by local bodies, also the Government stibsidv.

Costley Home.—The report, of the Charitable Aid Committee recommended tbe admission of five males aud two females to the Costley Home. —The report was adopted.

Hospital.—The Medical Supervisor reported that there were 85 male and 47 female patients in the Hospital at date. Five patients, all males, had died since tbe last report. —The report was adopted.

Old Age Pensions. —It was stated that certain of the old ag-e pensioners in the Costley Home were in the habit of leaving" the Home a few clays before the pensions fell due, claiming- the pension certificates, a.nd spending- the money.—lt was decided on the motion of Mr Allen to decline To return the pension certificates handed over to the Secretary without the authority of the Board. Fire Precautions.—On the motion of Mr Gordon it was resolved that the House Steward report periodically as to the fire practice held by the Hospital brigade staff.
