CHRISTCHURCH, this day

In connection with the finding of the body of Whelan on the Xew Brighton Beach on Thursday three New Brighton residents state that they heard the noise of a trap being driven along the main street, and early on Thursday morning a man shooting along the beach near the spot where the body was found is said to have seen wheel marks leading from the spot up the beach across the sand hills towards the road leading to the .interior It is supposed Whelan was the victim of a brawl, and that his assailants, conveyed him still alive and deposited him on the beach.
