LONDON QUOTATIONS

AN IMPORTANT SUGGESTION

At the conclusion -of the 3.15 call yesterday of the Auckland Stock Exchange, Mr D. B. McDonald, one of the Committee, said that in the interests of the great body of shareholders in Xew Zealand mines now held by English companies, it would be wise to get: quotations as to the London market daily, as was done in Australia. A great many felt that at present the general body of the public A\ho held shares were placed at a disadvantage for want of reliable information as to the prices ruling in London. Of course there were means of getting such information privately, and. it was perfectly legitimate and honest for people to get such news and use it. While it was perfectly legitimate for persons to get and use such information, still he considered it was the duty of the-Association to get such information and furnish to the public, so that shareholders might be posted as to the value of their stocks on the London market. He thought it would be wise to get the Press Association to furnish London quotations from day to day. Tt would be of much greater interest than news that the Kaiser had got a bad cough and recovered from it. The quotations were so furnished to Australian papers, and he thought they might fairly ask the Press Association to do the same in this colony. He therefore moved that a respectful request be forwarded to the Secretary of the Press Association, Wellington, to get this matter put in hand as quickly as possible.

Mr 1\ Hull pointed out that this being new matter notice of motion must be given, and the matter was accordingly deferred.
