WAIHI, Thursday, j Constable Henry, of Waihi, has arrived in town after making further1 inquiries with regard to the above ! fatality, which occurred last Sunday. It appears that the deceased fisherman, Easore, went out for a sail with ' a Miss McLean, on Sunday afternoon at_ 4.30. When they were about three miles o±r the landing- it came, oh to blow, and Easore said he would turn . back. In putting about the boat capsized, and the occupants were thrown into the water. Easore managed to place Miss McLean on the bottom of the upturned boat, and, after waiting for about half an hour, he said he would swim ashore. After swimming seven or eight yards he came back to ask Miss McLean a question, and thea started off again. He had only swam! a few yards when he sang out that he was done, and immediately sank. Miss McLean called out, but received no* answer. About 8 a.m. ne^xt morning af fisherman named McCorquodale res- ; cued Miss McLean from hex-"perilous position. She was iv a very exhausted; condition, one of her boots was wor# right through at the heel from continual chafing against the .side of the, boat. It is surmised that Easore v?a& attacked with cramps, as he was known to be a good swimmer. K<* trace of the body has yet been found..
