FANCY FAIR IN PONSONBY.
This afternoon His Lordsliip fiishop Lenili'an opened a Jubilee fancy fair, being a sale of work nud garden party combined, of un attractive character, iv the grounds of St. Mary's Roman Cafhol'c Convent, Ponsonby. The ladies of the district and the S'sters of the Convent have spent a great deal of time and trouble In preparing for the fair, which is well arranged and is certain to draw large crowds of visitors and purchasers. The fair will continue during to-morrow. Friday, and Saturday, and will be open from 3 to i> nnd 7 till 30 p.m. The nrticles on. sale are varied and artistic. There arc beautiful vestments, paintings, po'nt and Tenerlffe lnce, drawn-thread work, carved work, cascade and cameo embroidery, and all the latest firings in fancy work. Visitors can also obtain refreshments, afternoon tea. and strawberries and cream. Attractive programmes of Jniusic, tableaux, gramophone selections,, floral marches, Japanese dances and action so-ng-3, etc., have been prepared for fhe fair. Gipsy and maypole dances will be amongst the items given.
