An extraordinary bluiider occurred in course of criminal proceedings in the Magistrate's Court yesterday in the case, of a man named Kennedy, previously,convicted of false pretences and forgery, charged with passing valueless cheques, who pleaded guilty. The Magistrate sentenced him to a year's imprisonment on each of the charges cumulative, lie then found he had only power to send the man. up for sentence, and the case had to be re-heard, The man was then sent up to the Supreme Court for sentence.

In the Divorce Court a decree nisi was granted on the grounds of desertion in the case of Annie Josephine Wassell v. Charles Jeft'ers . Wassell. The parties were married in Welling-, ton in 1889. ;
