WAIOTAHI RETURN.
The return for the past month's operations in the Waiotahi mine, Thames, yielded 103 02s of melteid gold worth about £437. BAERIER REEFS. Mr James 'E. Noble, lately employed at the Woodstock Gold Mining- Company's battery, has resigned in order to accept the position of mill managor for the Barrier Reefs Company. WAIIII GRAND JUNCTION. Shares in the Waihi Grand Junc.tion Company have, advanced considerably in price during1 the last few weks. It is rumoured that's the Empire lode has been located in the Grand Junction property. WAIIII CONSOLIDATED. Shares in the Waihi Consolidated Gold Mining Company had strong demand on the Exchange to-day, sales being made from 2/3 to 2/7. Negotiations are proceeding with a view to granting an option over this properly, but1 no authoritative information has transpired so far as to whether anything definite has been arranged. ALPHA. The extension of the western exploring- levol lias been continued as usual, but' not- such good headway has been" made, owing to meeting with a tighter section of country than was the case last week, still on the whole the country is very favourable for the existence of lodes of a gold-bearing character. The level has been carried forward 13 feet for the week. MAY QUEEN EXTENDED. The manager reports he has again broken down a. portion of the reef in the rise, and it contains about the same size and a favourable, appearance, and colours and dabs of gold. Only quartz of much importance, is being- broken in the rise, therefore a large quantity of quartz is not being got, but the manager expects shortly to send some of the quartz, to the battery. The men have been removed from the drive below the rise, and are flow trying- to pick up the Creek Reef by following? one of the small leaders intersected in the crosscut. ,-, ..•-■•;! ' ■ KAPOWAI. • No. 1 level has been extended a total distance of 63 feet from the surface. There is a seam of oxide iron in the face which carried a little gold.. The country rock is similar to what it has brfen from the commencement. Mr Lindsay showed the new mine manager, Mr Vivian, an outcrop of a lode. 150. feet to the west of the winze, and about 30 feet higher up the spur. Two men have been started to work to prove its nature more fully. Nothing can be said yet- as to its dimensions, but some of the stuff gives fair dislv prospects. The gold is just of the same quality as what is found in the No. 1 lode. A track has been cut to the battery site and the bush cleared.
