Messrs J. Churton and Co. submitted to auction this afternoon building sections at Edenside, Mount Eden. There »was a- good attendance, but would-be buyers offered low* prices, so all were withdrawn for private disposal with the exception of two sections. Lots 9, 10, 11, and 11a, offered in one lot, brought 16/6 per foot. Mr Colbeck being the buyer. Lot 13 was knocked down to Wm. Aitken. at 12/ per foot.
In addition to the other attractions in connection with the Caniterbury Jubilee Industrial Exhibition, which is to be opened by His Excellency the Governor on Ist November, it is proposed to hold a eo_npetitioi- for church choirs early in January, for which prizes of £30 and £15 are offered. The competition is to conisi-t. of two vocal choruses', one to be selected by the Exhibition Committee and one by the choir itself. Eules.^in be obtained on application to Mr J. H. Mackie.
