BRITISHERS CAPTURED

A party recently sent by Major Count Gleiehen, under a flag of truce, to demand the surrender of Senekal, 55 miles north-east of,Winburg Road station, were captured.
[Count Gleiehen, C.M.G., who originally went out as a member of Sir Redvers Buller's staff, and. was later wounded at Modder River, is a major in-the Grenadier Guards and D.A.A.G. in the Intelligence Division at the War Office. He joined the Grenadier Guards in 1881, and was in the Nile expedition of 1884-85, in the Guards' Camel Corps. He was attached to Sir West Ridgway's mission to Morocco in 1893: was on special .service in the Soudan in 1896, and accompanied the British mission to Abyssinia, 1597. Count Gleiehen is a son of the late Prince Victor of Hohenlohe-Langenbufg and a.n English woman, Miss Laura Seymour, and is a favourite of the English Royal Family. He is an author of no little repute, and. his volumes dealing with his various experiences have been excellent reading.]
