The Returning Officer has declared the above elected, as will be seen by advertisement elsewhere.
With reference to the close election for the Takapuna Riding, in which Messrs M'ackay and Alison were candidates,, two out of three votes given at, the County Council office in favour of -Mr Alison were put aside as informal by the Returning. Officer with the consent. of the scrutineer. The Returning Officer submitted the papers to Messrs Russell and Campbell, and they came to the conclusion that although, two of the papers were filled up in an irregular manner they did not consider them absolutely invalid.
