MATCHES AT THE THAMES.

THAMES; Thursday
Tho first representative match of the season was played to-day, when Ohiuemuri defeated Thames by five wlckcte. Thames, winning the toss, scored (50, of which minibei- Xicoll (301 and Pratt (Ifii were the only double-figure subscribers. Paeroa. did even worse at the lirst attempt .scoring only oS. of which Cruncher .scored 21. in the second Innings Thames d'rt badly against the bowling of Butler and'Johnston, losing five wickets for 12: but the tail played up. and I'aeroa had 85 to tret to win and 53 minutes to get them. Tills they succeeded in doing, playing a fine forcing game, and the last run required was made off the last ball of the march. For Paeroa in the first innings Connolly took 5. wickers for (i runs, and in the second Ihninss Butler look (i for 13. and Johnston li for 12. For Thames Lowe took 4 for 12, and Graham 3 for 4 in the first inninjrs. *.;
