WAITEMATA.
Mr Ford, the Parliamentary candidate for Waitemata, addressed a meeting at Oroville (Great Barrier) on Monday night, the first occasion on which a political meeting has been held in Oroville. There were about fifty men and several ladies present. Mr Ford announced himself a supporter of the present Government and received an appreciative hearing. WELLINGTON NOTES. WELLINGTOISf, this day. The Premier is expected to return to Wellington on Sunday. Captain Eussell has nearly recovered from a serious affection of the throat.
The Hon. T. W. Hislop will probably be a candidate for Wellington City in the Opposition interest.
