THE LISMORE.-ROUGH WEATHER.
The steamer Lismore, which was signalled inside Tiri when we went to press yesterday. arrived shortly before 1 o'clock in the evening, after a very long passage or 91 days Very heavy weather was experienced on the" voyage. The Lismore is a steel-built screw steamer of 3529 gross and 2277 net tonnage, and was built at Glasgow £y Messrs" C Connell and Co in 1894 for tlie S.S. Lismore Company <J. Gardner and Co) Her dimensions are:—Length, SSoft, breadth 43ft Sin; depth, 19ft. She has a speed of between 9i and 10 knots when loaded Mr T. K. Sloane, the chief officer, reports-The Lismore left New York on May 26, and called at St. Vincent for bunker coal. The voyage to Melbourne, which was reached on July 26, was marked almost throughout by line weather. On discharge the steamer went on to Sydney and after putting out further consignments at that port resumed her voyage to Auckland at 6 a.m., and cleared the Heads at 7.30 a m. on the 9th inst. Light variable winds and fine weather were experienced until the 13th, thence heavy easterly gales and seas %h" Lismore began the discharge of her cargo this morning, and will complete today" leaving In the evening for Wellington. Considering the fearful passage she had, he* cargo is turning out splendidly, there being .very little damage. On completion of the discharge of her Southern cargo the Lismore loads grain for England at Lyttelton and Tiinaru. Messrs T. and S. Morrin, Limited, are the local agents.
