S.M. COURT.-THIS DAY.

!At the Magistrate's Court this moming, Mr.H. S. Wardell, S.M., made torders as follows on judgment summonses: —Ellen H. Waller v. Charles [Vy. Cave, "defendant ordered to pay !£27 2s 3d. forthwith, but order suspended for one month; Ernest Colson ,v. W. Phillipscm, defendant ordered to pay £9 13s forthwith; J. J. Craig v. C. Rogers, £2 8s 6d forthwith. The defended case Webb v. de Monialk was heard yesterday afternoon, the claim being £2 9s 4d for extra work done by plaintiff, a painter, upon a contract. The defendant had paid 13s 6d into court, and disputed the rest of the claim, contending that the work was not outside the specification's" of the contract. His Worship after hearing evidence gave judgment for plaintiff for ,& 1 12s 6d, with costs, ss. - in the case Robertson Bros. v. Thos. Hodson, claim iS, 147 4s lid, His Worships gave judgment for plaintiff by default, with costs a-s in a defended case, these totalling £10 17s. The reason of this was .that when the case was first called on Mr Cooper, counsel for defendant, intimated that it was defended, but this morning there was no appearance of the defence, and Mr Hanna, plaintiff's/solicitor, stated that the case was .undefended.
