TUb return from this Karangaliake company is very gratifying to shareholders, showing as ii/does an im provement over last mouth's yield, which was a record one.. During toe month of October the miU ran 24 days, the stamps crushing 499 ions and the Krupp mill 375,t0n5; a total. of 874 tons of ore yielding 5,026 ozs. of bullion valued at £3738 10/, and showing an average value of £1 5/6 per ton. The Septemher output was 836 tons, which yielded t.ullion valued at £3478 11/4, or an average value of £4 2/1 L It will thus be seen that the yield for the past month has eclipsed the September yield j,n tonnage total value of. the bullion ai\d the average per ton. It is a noticeable feature that the Krupp mill has proved itself to be on oxcellent machine for the dry crushing of such comparatively friable ore as that which is now being won. _

An important development has taken place in this mine. Last week ii was mentioned that a lode had been intersected in the No. 7 level, and that the reef was 2 feet thick. Since then, driving along its course was pursued, but as the ore body did not develop to Mr Goldsworthy's satisfaction, he resolved upon crosscutting into the eastern wall, with a view to ascertaining if any more quartz lay in that direction. This effect was crowned with success, the crosscut proving that the reef being operated upon M-as a new lode altogether, and that th.c main body of stone had been left, untouched. The main reef has now been cut into, and n fine body of stone has been uncovered, the width in the face being fully 5 feet, without any appearance of the hangingwall. Considerable importance is attended to the development inasmuch as that it proves that the lodes are making in stone on their downward continuation, and when it is also considered that on these lines of reefs the company have hundreds of feet in extent, besides almost unlimited backs, it must be admitted that the Talisman Company has a most prosp«?,rous= future- assured.

At this company's property during the past month an important development has occurred at the No. 7 level, namely, the intersection of the Talisman lode, which bas been cut through, and is now being driven upon, and which proves to be 7ft wide and of good value. Some time ago a lode, was cut in the crosscut, but Mr Goldsworthy was not satisfied with its character and determined upon continuing' the crosscut to the east, and the result was that after driving 28ft the true lode was met. This reef is encased in very nice country and from the No. 7 level there exists 114 ft of backs to the level aoove, so that the company possess here a very large block of high grade ore. At No 2 level the crosscut to intersect the lode in the Bonanza section is being pushed ahead, and this lode is expected to be cut at any moment. •At No. 5 level also a crosscut for the same purpose is under way and is in 140 ft, leaving frpm 60 to 80ft acording to the dip of the lode before the reef is met. At No. 4 level driving south is being continued and also stoping over the back of fhe level. "The reef in both places continues of large size and payable value. The whole of the ore broken out is being dispatched to mill At No. 6 level stoping is proceeding as usual qn the same large lode which continues to produce a splendid class of ore, and supplies the mill with a large* amount of its crushing dirt. At No. 2 level the hopper is being built and a self-acting ground tramway is being laid to connect it with hqpper at No. 4 level, which is the top point of the aerial tramway. When this work is completed the ore from all points of the mine will be delivered at the battery at a minimum of cost.
