HUNTER AND NOLAN'S REPORT.
Messrs Hunter and Nolan report:— Horses were entered in large numbers, though the bidding was slow most lots changed hands. Heavy draughts brought £15 to £24 7/6, medium £10 7/6 to £17 17/0, hacks and light harness horses £3 17/6 to £10 12/6, weedy horses 15/ to £3 7/6. A good catalogue of wool, hides and tallow was gone through at late rates. Stout ox brought 4d to 53d, steer and medium ox 3£d to 33d, cow 3}d to 4d, calfskins <£<\ to SJd, bones £3 15/ per ton, tallow 13/6 to 14/9 Per cwt, rough fat 1\& per lb. Sheepskins brought 2/5 to 4/11 pelta 9d to 1/1, lambskins 1/3 to 1/9, wool in bags and dumps 2}d to 53d per lb. Beef was easier in price, fat oxen making li/ to 19/ per 100 lbs, and cows 16/ to IS/. Fat steers brought- £4 17/6 to £8 10/, cowsi £3 5/ to £7 2/6, dairy cows £3,5/ to £4 17/6, grown steers £3 5/ to*, £4 7/6, 2 to 3 yearold ditto £2 to £3 7/6/ empty cows £1 I</ to £3 5, fat cows £4 to £5 7/6, calves 10/ to £1 6/. Wethers in wool brought 10/3 to 15/9, shorn do. S/3 to 13/6, ewes 7/ to 13/6. Lambs plentiful, brought fi/9 to £1 17/6 Porkers sold at from 12/9 to £1 17/6.
Messrs G. W. Binney and Sons report:— On Tuesday we cleared large catalogue of hides sheepskins, tallow, bones, etc. Hides- Competition brisk; picked ox sold from 6d to 6Jd, extra stout 5d to sid, stout 41d to 4id, medium 33d to 4d, cow, picked up to 4d~ best lines 3Jd, medium 3}d to old, second class 2Jd to 23d. kip 3d to 3id calfskins 3d to 32d. stag 2d to 2Jd, bulls Id to lid per lb. Sheepskins: Longwools are again easier; fine crossbreds and merinos in strong demand; large longwools sold from 4/6 to 4/9, ordinary 3/6 to 4/, crossbreds 3/6 to 4/9, lambskins 1/ to 1/9, shearlings 9d to 1/ each. Tallow: Picked lots for tanners' use 16/ to 17/, good ordinary 14/6 to 15/, inferior 8/ to 10/ per cwt. Bones £3 15/ per ton for good dry lines. Hair: Horse tail 1/2 to 1/3, mane 9d to lOd per lb, cow tails 1/3 to 1/4 per doz. Wop*. Bags and fadges sold freely; Lincoln 4Jd to 42d coarse crossbred 4Jd to sd, fine aid In 4& ncr lb. Bonedust:.Emu and Runcorn sacks £6 10/, bags £6 15/ per ton.
