On Monday night at the Foresters' Hall, Karangahape Eoad, the Romany Club gave a charming rendering of Dr. Charles Vincent's operetta 'The Spanish Gypsies.' The entertainment was in aid of the Church Mission to the Streets a.nd Lanes. A large audience was present, - the house being filled both up and downstairs. The dresses were richly and tastefully designed, and the general effect of the costumes and stage decorations was extremely pretty. The soloists, who were in good voice, were deservedly applauded for the bright and spirited renderings of their respective parts. They were as follows:—Lola, Miss Morrin; Inez, Miss Bingley; Dolores, Miss Myles; Esmeralda, Miss Aylett; Zerlina, Miss Blacke. The choruses of maidens and gypsies were also heard to" advantage. Messrs White and C. Banks, Miss West and Miss Jones, contributed musical items of a pleasing character during the interval. A word of praise is due to Mr Jones, organist of St. Matthew's, who acted as conductor, and who took a prominent part generally in bringing the, entertainment to a successful issue. Miss Midgley made a good pianiste.

The final heat of the President's Fours of the Auckland Eowing Club was rowed .off last evening between crews stroked by A. Dacre and A. Jenkins, Dacre's crew winning by about a length. The winners are:— A. Dacre, W. H. Brown, S. Diamond, and F. Clarke. The losing crew takes second prize, a set of caps presented by Mr J. Cooper.
