THE COLLIERY DISPUTE.

SYDNEY, this day.

• The coal weighing difficulty, which it was thought had received its quietus by the acceptance, of the new general agreement at. the recent conference of northern owners and miners' representatives, has again cropped up, some of the Miners' Lodges having opposed this agreement. A meeting of owners of the various coal mining districts was held. It was considered there was. every yhance of the whole of the Winers accepting the agreement, and it was decided that the best thing was for the owners to resign themselves to compliance with the Weighing Regulations Act. The meeting ndopted resolutions recommending all collieries to make provision to comply with the law. This will necessitate a large reduction in the hewing. In some quarters it is' believed a strike is inevitable if weighing is enforced.
