THE MUNICIPAL CONFERENCE.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Municipal Conference opened this morning, Mr Blair, Mayor of Wellington, presiding. The report showed assets, mostly cash, £82 5s lid, and liabilities £16 4s Id. The Conference is now engaged discussing the Municipal Franchise Bill, the debate showing the members were a good deal puzzled to understand the effect of joint tenancy. The Conference passed a resolution approving- of the household qualifies* : tion and. vote being- given to a residential occupant, as defined by the Bill —of six months' standing, however, not three —pi'oyided it is made clear that the voter is individually responsible for a rental of at least ten pounds per annum, or is jointly responsible with others to the extent of ten pounds each.
