The canvass for subscribers, upon the success of which depended the continuance of the Agricultural Show, has failed.
INVERCARGILL, this day.
A block of two-storey buildings in Beestreet, formerly occupied by W. Guthrie and Co., Limited, sold by order of the Bank of New Zealand, was bought by Walter Guthrie for £5000. Seventeen years ago the land, with an old building and brick office, brought £4,500. Ihe fclock has 231 ft of frontage to the two principal streets. DUNEDIN, this, day.
A second shipment of pedigree stock for Monte Video is being made by Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co., by the Duke of Portland. The shipment comprises fonr fine Hereford bullocks from the herd of Mr James Stuckey, Rangitumaii; six Shorthorn bulls from the Ellerslie herd of Mr John Reid; and 20 Lincoln rams from Mr Henry Overton, Kirwee.
